Axle Riggs McLane was a sturdy, cunning man. As a Pirate, he thought on his feet and never once allowed himself out in the open, for fear that his... unfortunate status might be discovered.
But here he was once more, at the Light Dome--at Illuminati--even though, after all this time, he knew he should have never once thought of it again.
Alas, the man was unsure what was drawing him back, but he felt that he should, for old time's sake, take a poke around the Light Dome just to see what could be found. Perhaps he was just a sucker for nostalgia--who knew? Maybe--just maybe--there was some great treasure to be had from this little venture.
Sticking close to the shadows, making it his second skin, Axle wandered the streets of the Dark City, looking for an entrance. He didn't want to get caught, lest he be sent away. His mechanical arm and missing eye never exactly gave strangers the most... pleasant of first impressions.
Coming to a bend in the road, Axle noticed two--a demon and a human--quarreling over something. The Pirate inferred it to be something over the roof, but he was hardly interested. However, the human appeared to be a guard (ex-guard, perhaps, but he wasn't about to risk it), and Axle made up his mind to stay to the shadows until the two figures moved elsewhere. There was a secret Pirate entrance this way, after all, and he felt safest heading in that way.
So, sticking deeper into the shadows, Axle waited...
And then dashed forward for the Pirate entrance... into the Light Dome.

Koketsu, who appeared to be nothing more than a figure of darker mass in an already dark mass of shadow, stalked quietly down one of the many mostly abandoned streets of the Dark City. She, and she was a she--if one could see her in proper light they would know, was on her way to do nothing. Yep, nothing. There was absolutely nothing to do this dull moonless night. Normally she could run across a few interesting characters, meet up with some 'friends', or the like, but today was absolutely dead. Nothing seemed to be going on in her current part of town.
Maybe she should make a trip to the light dome? There were always people around in plain sight there... Even if the lights did wear on the nerves a bit, it would be better than this dull dump, right?
Still unsure of what to do tonight, she continued on her aimless way. Her tail flickered back and forth with every step, and her ears would twitch every now and again at all the common-places noises of the dark part of the city.

This. This was too damned easy.
These targets were already distracted with their own, pointless bickering. They had saved him the trouble of going over to create a distraction for them to turn their attention away from their belongings. It did not matter what in Heaven's name they were arguing about. What it mattered was that it was distracting them far too easily and it was the perfect opportunity, now. Alejandro already had it planned out by the time the demon sat and turned his head away defiantly. All he had to do was sneak up to the one that wasn't the demon, snatch whatever silver or gold or valuable item he had, then run. That was it.
Thus now, he took a step forward, ready to run over and go through with his plan when the next thing he knew, there was something that just...dashed in front of him. Boom. All it took was a second and he was gone. This, naturally, made him freeze and look to the spot where the shadow had gone off to. There was silence before his shoulders shook in a silent chuckle.
"Quien habra sido...?" murmuring to himself in his traditional language, the pirate was now more curious about the shadow that had run before him than the other two bickering fools. So what if they had items...this person had his interest.
"Debe ser interestante." Alejandro smirked and focused, his eyes still on the shadow that scurried off down the direction that he knew led to one of the main pirate exits. It was secret... so this person was either a pirate he hadn't recognized, or he was some form of spy? Who knew. But he continued to focus while his body morphed, slowly and surely, into a more dark, feline form.
And with a chuckle that sounded more like a growl, the newly-morphed caracal trotted after the shadow, noticing that they were sneaking past the other two and heading to another area. It seemed almost as if this person wanted to use the pirate way to get to the Light Dome...

As Axle made his way to the secret Pirate entrance, he realized with shock that he was being followed.
Of course, there was no way in Hell it was that bickering human or that rowdy demon--no, they were far too busy yelling at each other to have noticed him cut through the shadows, on past them, and toward the tall, seeming inscalable wall.
Yet the feeling was there. Axle was, without a doubt, being followed, even if he couldn't see anything.
He thought to take off his eyepatch and scan the area with his mechanical eye, but that would throw off his balance and he didn't liken to the fact that he had trouble getting his bearings with two different types of sight. No, he much preferred to see without the aid of that mechanical eye; even after all this time, he couldn't get used to it.
So he kept going forward, using his one human eye to probe the walls, looking for that secret way in as he did his best to ignore that nagging feeling, digging away at him in the pit of his gut.
If worse came to worse, he could always lash out with his cutlass or retaliate with his claws. Axle was in no way at all helpless.

Taking lengthy, yet silent strides, the transformed feline continued to follow the other and large ears perked up. As he ran, he noticed, he kept hearing this sound. Tick. Click. Tink. Tick. Click. Tink. He knew very well it wasn't from him, for in his caracal form, there was not a thing on him that could make a sound like that. Tick. Click. Tink. What could that be? It had to be from the person before him, running from him, along that wall. And he was getting dangerously close to the pirate entrance, he noticed. He was-
Tick. Cli-
"GOD, what is that!!" the caracal finally exclaimed and he thrust forward, thankful to his leg muscle. If it weren't for his strong limbs, he wouldn't have been able to propel himself forward such a long distance that he was now near the other. He was dangerously close, and that noise was louder. His head quickly turned and due to one thankful glint of light, he saw the other's arm, and it hit him. That thing was mechanic. Fucking mechanic.
"...what?" he was distracted, for merely a second, and it cost him. He hadn't seen the first turn that led to the entrance and was met briefly with a very nice wall, which upon meeting his face, sent a painful jolt through his body. His concentration was shattered and he slumped upon the wall, groaning and pawing at his dark muzzle before scrambling to stand on all four paws and glare towards the other.
He stood there, glaring, for what seemed like an eternity before he slowly began to continue to follow. His gait was slower now, but he'd speed up in time. Alex just had to figure out who this was.

Roscoe shifted his footing a bit to prepare himself for an attack, but the demon suddenly stopped his restless shifting. Both brows rose a bit this time as Roscoe waited...and waited...and waited a bit more. That flying leap never came, though, and he slowly got out of his slightly crouched fighting stance. Heh? So he wanted him to come up there after all?
"All right," he said with a rather bored tone of voice. He knew he'd have a hard time climbing up to that rooftop so, instead of making a fool of himself and possibly opening himself to attack, he strode forward to the door of the house and pulled out his spare key from his pocket. A few moments later and he was out of sight, inside the building. He ignored the illegal objects laying around the room and headed to his old bedroom first, where he kept one of his old guard guns for times like this. He tucked it away into an inner pocket on his jacket so he would have both hands free for his preferred style of fighting before continuing on his way. A few flights later and he was pushing open a trap door style panel in the ceiling, and emerged with a bit difficulty onto the roof. Pulling yourself up by your arms from standing on a chair was a bit hard, after all.
Roscoe kicked the panel back into place, his hands tucked into his outer pockets as he faced the demon, finally getting a good look at him. He certainly wasn't greasy nor filthy, and as far as demons went, he was reasonably presentable. The one thing that caught his eye was a long metal chain hanging around his neck. He could certainly use that to his advantage. Flicking his grey eyes back up to the demon's face, he gave a little smirk and stared silently for a moment before finally speaking.
"Come on, then. I've never seen a demon so set against fighting before. Usually your kind are eager to rip off an innocent passer-by's limbs as soon as look at them."

When the human had gone inside the house, Jaissec had, at first, thought he was just giving up. Had the human backed down and was just going to let him sit there? Seemed a bit too good to be true. And just like it seemed, it was.
The human crawled out of the roof.
That's right. Crawled.
The demon heard his words, he knew the man was planning to fight him. He knew he'd be ripping off limbs, just as the man had said in the next few moments, but the image of this human male crawling out from a hole in the roof was just too rich. Jaissec couldn't stop that bubbling feeling of amusement from boiling inside him and eventually out. He started laughing.
This silly, stupid human was going to kill him, after make such a lame entrance as that?! Really now, he thought humans were all about extremes and looks. Weren't the prone to doing stupid things to look tough and cool? This was so out of place from what he expected it was funny.
"Haha! That has to be one of the lamest things I have ever seen! Feheh, foolish human," the demon shook his head as he spoke but only continued to sit there. "Well, I don't give a shit what other demons do, or are supposed to do. I'll do whatever the hell I want, and I think I want to stay right here."
Jaissec toyed with his chain a little, looking away back to the Light Dome as he did so. "If you're so troubled by it, try to make me leave. You will most likely regret it though."

Axle heard a noise behind him, and he could no longer bear to ignore it.
He turned about, lifted his eyepatch, and shut his one good eye all in a matter of seconds. Part of him wanted to cry out, "WHO'S THERE?!" but he remained absolutely silent. He would just let his eye do the searching.
The infrared graphic of things was something odd, and Axle had just a tad bit of trouble focusing on the surroundings. Alas, he saw nothing, probably because he wasn't too accustomed to using this kind of sight.
But he knew it was there.
Something was there, in the Dark City, and it was right behind him.
Perhaps it was immune to infrared sensors, or it was just so blended in with the dark that it made his scanners useless.
Whatever the case, Axle was unable to see what was there, causing him to be even more on-edge.
Replacing the eyepatch, He placed his mechanical hand to his sword and with his teeth pulled off the glove covering his human hand. With precision, he began feeling along the wall, and, at long last, a finger slipped into a node.
Pressing inward, the wall slid back, revealing one of the many secret entryways to the Light Dome. Now that light washed back onto the dark alley, Axle took one last fleeting look over his shoulder...

Roscoe frowned as the demon began to laugh. Why the hell was he laughing? Because he used his head and took the easy way up? Huh. Demons. He watched the creature laugh and play with the chain around his neck, nodding to himself as he was told he'd have to move him. Not a bad tactic. He always tried to attack second, let the other person make the first move, but if he was on the offensive it was a bit hard to make the defender attack.
The young man took a moment to size up his competition to determine the best way of getting him off his roof. Well, his parents roof. The beast looked to be just a hair shorter than he, but he knew that demons couldn't be trusted at first glance. Some had incredible strength despite their size, others could grow wings and could fly - this one had wings but they appeared too small for flight - and still others could transform into horrible creatures with more fangs than you could count. Other than that, your general demon had some killer teeth and claws, and usually some power to fight with.
Putting all that aside, Roscoe decided the best attack would be a casual one. So, without much fuss, he walked forward and hooked his right hand under the demon's arm and hauled him to his feet. Four years of training had given him enough strength to battle hand-to-hand with men three times his size, so he could easily lift the smaller male to his feet. "Lets go, buddy." None too gently but, without causing harm, he put his hand right between those two wings and began to push, walking him to the closest edge of the roof. Now, lets see how this 'attack' was handled.

It wasn't long before a plethora of sounds reached the caracal's large ears, most of them consisting of that annoying sound that he knew now belonged to the character's mechanical arm. Tickclicktinktickclicktink. Tinktinktinktinkwhrrr. At the final sound the feline stopped and froze, right there and then, fearing the worst. There had to be a reason for a mechanical arm to make such a sound, and Alejandro could already guess that it wasn't a good one. Giant, mechanical arms did not 'whrr' out of random. That meant there had to be some sort of gear somewhere that made the sound. But he hadn't seen any gears on that arm, so...the arm didn't make it.
Oh. Fuck. Did the creature before him have another mechanical thing? What if it was a freaking mechanical shoulder that turned into a cannon? Then he knew his feline form would be no match for-
Wait a second. He'd found the entrance! The freaking entrance!
And in that large array of light, he saw a faint outline of the one that had opened it. The thing that stood out more to Alejandro was the fact that this person looked very pirate-like. Too pirate-like to be a coincidence. This told him many things, and the main one that stood out was "I'm dealing with another pirate. A pirate with a MECHANICAL ARM."
The large cat trotted forward slowly before leaping out, and during his flight above the shattered ground his body took a quick morph, shifting left and right, muscles pulsing and throbbing until the feline was gone and a human body took its place. A true human body. His true human body, which he felt more comfortable in now as he walked towards the secret entryway, calmly running a hand through his short hair before pausing by the other and casting a sideways glance at him. He was silent before a smirk came to his lips and he tilted his head a bit, motioning towards the entrance. "After you."

When the man came to pull him up, Jaissec had to admit he was caught off guard. He had expected a head-on attack, and when the human walked over he was prepared for a sudden and fast movement, not a slow and controlled one.
When the demon realized he was being pushed toward the edge, his first instinct was to push back and slip around the human. He was capable of it. He was quick and agile and good at taking in his surroundings in the blink of an eye.
Jaissec, though, immediately quelled this instinct and allowed himself to be pushed. He could fly after all, and it would throw the human off if he made it seem so easy.
With a harsh push, Jaissec was thrown over the edge. The human probably thought he'd won, Jaissec could picture the man snorting and brushing off his hands with a 'job well done' look on his face. No, the man probably wasn't doing that, but that's what Jaissec pictured. Fool.
The demon could hear himself laughing once again, started in the split moment he was pushed off. In a blur of movement, Jaissec's wings extended out to their full form and, with one great flap, he was lifted back up to hang a few feet away from the roof in the air. His chuckles continued as he pictured the human's surprised look in his head.
Turning his head to see him, Jaissec grinned and said, "Gotcha."
His tail flew out from its normal resting place and wrapped around the man's waist. With a few more flaps from the demon's powerful wings, he attempted to lift the man and switch their places around so that he was on the roof and the man hanging about in the air.

Axle's hand was immediately at his cutlass and his muscles tensed for the strike as the figure walked from the darkness. It could've been anything, given the creatures that loom in the deep shadows of the Dark City--maybe a demon, or a spirit, or some other nasty monster that had never once crawled from the shadows but to rip at his flesh and tear out his soul...!
...But no, it was just a man.
And... a Pirate, no less!
And his tone was very pleasant to hear, with a slight, lilting Spanish accent.
Axle's tension eased up, but he wasn't about to let his guard down--oh no, not just yet. Pirates weren't exactly known for being the most loyal of animals, and this one had a wily look to him. Nice, but wily.
"First," Axle said with a small grin, leaning his back against the left-hand wall of the entrance to the Light Dome, as to not allow this other Pirate passage, "I'd like to know your name. A nice follow-up to that would be the reason you were following me."
He paused, tilting his chin downward and looking up through his bangs with his one good eye, and then added, "And please, feel free to tell me how you managed to avoid being spotted on my radar."

Roscoe was surprised by the lack of a fight the demon gave, but he didn't stop walking the beast over to the edge of the roof. He had expected a bit more resistance than he was getting, but he could work with this. If the demon was going to somewhat cooperate, that was fine by him. He also had this sneaking suspicion that he had some ace up his sleeve that he was going to pull out any second now: demons usually kept their secrets hidden until they needed to use them.
When they finally reached the edge of the roof, Roscoe had no qualms about pushing him off. He had full confidence that the demon would land without a scratch. They're quite durable creatures, despite some of their stature. This one might look as though he wouldn't survive the fall, but the human was sure that he'd land on his feet, like cat. He hadn't been expecting those wings to suddenly grow large enough to carry the demon easily, though. The only look of surprise on his face was a slightly arched brow. Huh. Well, at least he was off the roof.
He was about ready to take a step back to watch and see how things went - if the demon decided to try and remain on the roof or not - and realized that he should have backed up a bit faster as a thin but strong tail wound it's way around his waist. He looked down sharply as his feet began to slide along the top of the roof and he realized that, oh dear, this thing was going to try to get him into the air with him. No words were said as he assessed the new problem, peering up at the demon as his hands tried to pry the limb from around him. No luck. It was like trying to make a boa constricter let.
Plan B, then.
Roscoe looked up sharply: the demon seemed to be having just a hair of trouble getting both of them airborne, but the momentum of being pulled up was enough to know he could make the jump he was going to try for. He crouched down as best he could and jumped straight up, the pulling helping him to get a foot or so higher than he normally could reach. It was just enough to grasp the end of that chain that the demon had around his neck. He smirk crossed Roscoe's face as he tugged while falling back to the roof. Good thing he wasn't over the street yet or they'd both be in a bit of trouble.

Jaissec was strong, but shit this human was heavy. One would think an inch or two wouldn't add much difference in weight, and he knew his wings were powerful enough to lift them, but it did give him the slightest bit of difficulty. And, obviously, that was all the foul human needed to screw up his ideal plan.
The man had jumped up and reached out for his chain. For the brief moment before gravity took a hold of them, Jaissec felt a shiver run through his whole body. The chain was still sealed, it still contained its powers, and someone other than him touching it was hella unpleasant. It made his nerves twitch in the worst of ways.
Before the demon could let the feeling wash over him completely and the goosebumps crawl along the skin of his entire body, gravity decided it was now time they both took a trip back down to earth. The human seemed to have landed on his feet, where he had been before, but the demon's trip back down to earth was more in the form of falling.
If it wasn't for the shock of the chain, Jaissec certainly could of caught himself, but as it was, he didn't. Both his head flew back and his hip jerked sideways, throwing him completely off balance along with the weird, unpleasant tingles. He landed right on top of the human, knocking them both down to the ground with a couple of loud thuds and a puff of invisible dust.
"Ugh, Fuck!" he cursed the situation. Jaissec could feel himself all tangled up in his own wings, chain, and even the others limbs.
This was definitely turning out to be a shitty night. Or day. Whatever.

Roscoe landing on his feet, absorbing the fall by bending his knees slightly. He was glad he had landed back on the ground so easily. He wasn't too sure if this would have worked, since he didn't know the demon's strength, but he was on the ground and that was good. Looking up, though, Roscoe realized that he might have overlooked the fact that tugging so hard on something attacked to the demon's neck and waist might have similar consequences for the flying creature.
He didn't have time to even think about moving, since the demon was almost on top of him. He did, however, tuck his head down into his arms to protect it from smashing into the roof or anything hard the demon was wearing. He let out a grunt as the other male landed on him and sent him slamming into the ground. A elbow - or perhaps a knee, or wing joint - caught him right under his ribs and knocked the wind out of him, which left him gasping for air. His head hadn't taken any damage, at least.
All right, lets assess the situation again. Demon is on top of him, not a good place. In a fight you never want to be the one being pinned to the ground. He needed to get on top, and fast. Despite being winded and he couldn't tell where his legs and the demon's began, Roscoe shifted and rolled so his back was no longer pressed against the roof. He didn't quite make it over, though, thanks to the demon's wings, so now the two twisted bodies were laying on their sides, still rather tangled in the other. And yes, these few moments, when read out of context, could be considered a bit suggestive.
"All right...demon," he said, taking hold of the chain once again, this time a bit closer to his neck to have a bit more control over the beast. He had no idea that touching the chain was making his opponent feel weird and unpleasant, but if he did you can be sure he'd be touching as much of it as he could. Roscoe was still a bit winded and trying to get his breath back, but at least he could speak now. "I tried nicely to get you off...you're running out of chances to get out of this little tiff unharmed."
